League of Legends: Katarina Rework - First Impressions

After a glance at Katarina on the PBE recently, here were my initial thoughts on her:
  • Combo feels nice with the new W
  • Feels more active with the new W
  • Farming is much easier with W
  • Farming is more predictable and manageable with the bouncing to nearest targets on Q
  • Creates a tough choice between safety of Q, vs higher damage output via W
  • Very glad she's still resourceless
  • Kit now encourages her to be in melee more, emphasizing more high-risk gameplay with higher rewards
  • R doesn't visually feel or audibly sound as impactful anymore
    • Old sound was more noticeable for the spinning itself
  • I like the sounds in general but...
    • Miss the distinct Shunpo impact sound
    • Blade sounds are a little too grating and can be harsh on the ears when listening at high volumes
  • The new model looks better, but felt like it could've been better
    • Her metal bracers and shinguards look dull. Would've liked a little more polished steel look
    • Not a fan of her running pose. Looks a bit awkward, like animations were trying to keep her symmetric and tighter since she had two large daggers that would take up more space otherwise
  • The icons could've looked better
    • W looks like a rose. At first glance I had no idea what it would represent as an ability
    • W and R don't utilize the blue that's in her other icons, making them look out of place in her icons
    • R looks more like you're throwing knives forward. Something similar to W with blades flying out would've been better for it
    • Voracity could've looked neater if it were a closeup on her eye with the scar instead
      • Currently looks more regal or majestic in a way, not necessarily voracious
  • Less frustrating to play against Bouncing Blades now
  • Pushes incredibly fast with new W
  • Higher burst snowball potential from passive due to new W when killing in fights
  • Overall I found her pretty fun
    • Feel more desire to be even more aggressive on her -- Good!
    • Worried about her high amounts of AoE. Can potentially be too devastating especially with cooldown refresh on passive
    • Will miss the old bouncing blades from a playing-as perspective, since it was "easier" to harass the enemy with it
      • Glad it's changed from a playing-against perspective
